Medicare Rebates

Since 1 November 2006, the Medicare system has offered rebates to see a psychologist if you are referred by your doctor. The government has recognised that mental health is important like medical health.

To get a referral, expect your doctor to spend approximately 20-30 minutes with you assessing your situation and working out if you qualify to see a psychologist.

A referral means you are entitled to six sessions to start with, and then another six if the doctor feels you need more. Also, you don't have to visit the psychologist that your doctor recommends.

If you have visited another psychologist and you want to try us instead, give us a call; we will be happy to tackle your issues or problems.

If you get a referral from your doctor, you are entitled to a $80 rebate from Medicare. Our fees are $150, which means that you will only pay a gap of $70 per session. We can organise your rebate each session directly into your account from our EFTPOS facility.

Alternatively, you can contact a GP within Kings Park Medical Clinic and they will refer you to us if you qualify.
